World Diabetes Day

14 November 2024

Let's talk about World Diabetes Day

So, as you all may know it today is World Diabetes Day. You or maybe someone you know suffers from diabetes. In 2022 alone there were 830 million people living with diabetes worldwide, up from 200 million in 1990. In South Africa, diabetes is the second leading cause of death after tuberculosis. In 2019, 12.7% of the adult population had diabetes, and 52.4% of those were undiagnosed. The direct cost of diabetes to South Africa's health system is US\$150 million, but the indirect costs are much higher.

In our upcoming video, we’re addressing four critical questions that matter to everyone impacted by diabetes, whether personally or through a loved one.
